Sacraments

The sacraments are a precious gift from God, encounters with His grace and love. Because they are so important, we want to ensure you are prepared to receive them well. If you are seeking to take the next step in faith by celebrating a sacrament, we would love to walk with you — please get in touch.

  • Baptism is our entry into God’s family and the gift of new life in Christ. At St Thomas More, we celebrate baptisms for infants, children, and adults.

  • Reconciliation is the sacrament of God’s mercy, where we encounter forgiveness and peace. Confessions are available weekly.

  • The Eucharist is the source and summit of Christian life, where we receive Christ’s Body and Blood. Children (usually Year 3+) and their families take part in a parish preparation programme before celebrating First Holy Communion.

  • Confirmation strengthens baptismal grace and seals us with the gift of the Holy Spirit. In our parish, it is usually offered to young people in grade six onwards through a parish-based preparation programme.

  • Marriage is a sacrament of love and unity, a covenant between husband and wife before God.

  • The Anointing of the Sick brings Christ’s healing grace to the sick, elderly, or those preparing for surgery. It may be celebrated individually or at special healing Masses.
